set in New York City.
Pérez Massimo and Lady Flic met in 2019, while Flic was on a dj jaunt from her home in Bali. The 2020 drama pushed the fast forward button and they married Christmas Eve that year on the Jersey City waterfront. And so their monumental musical histories and collections came together, resulting in a duo like nothing you’ve heard before.
Pérez is a DJ, dancer, teacher and storyteller, Brooklyn born, with an old-school New York spirit from a world that no longer exists. He played the city’s House scene from 2010 to 2016 — Sapphire Lounge, The Sullivan Room, Cielo — then hung up his headphones, never to return.
Flic is a DJ, music and creative director and singer, thirty years in the game, by way of New Zealand, Dublin, London, Bali and finally New York. She has booked and played alongside Snoop Dogg and Mark Ronson at one end and Mr Scruff and Maurice Fulton at the other.
The vinyl fire was reignited in the duo when Pérez reconnected his turntables so Flic could continue her radio shows. In November 2020 they launched The All Vinyl Variety Show, live on Twitch every Tuesday; it ran for four fabulous years and built a loyal following of ‘Love Cats’. Alongside it, ten months of Under the Influence, a monthly underground party for dancers, outliers and music lovers.
Recent regular spots in the city include Bierwax, Mr Melo, Port Sa’id, Eavesdrop, ACE Hotel and Aftermath. For up to date event listings follow on Instagram and Bandsintown.
